Bee Norris, LPC intern
Philosophy and Approach: Hello! My name is Bee and I am nonbinary/genderqueer. I identify as a survivor of anorexia and recognize how complex the intersection of gender identity and eating disorders can be. I choose to disclose this information because a big part of my approach to therapy is based on me showing up as authentically as possible with my clients. My therapeutic approach is trauma –informed and places an emphasis on how relationships, culture and power impact individuals. This means I view people in connection with the various relationships, systems and environments that influence their development and experiences. You are the expert of your own life and my goal is to help support and empower you through your own process of
self-discovery and change at a pace that is comfortable, yet challenging for you. Together we can explore the ways in which all of your identities, relationships and experiences impact you and your life.
Formal Education and Training: I have a Master of Arts degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling and certification in eating disorders from Lewis and Clark College. During my practicum experience, I worked with clients in the Gaming and Technology in Excess (GATE) program at the Lewis and Clark Community Clinic (LCCC). Eating disorders were a focus
throughout my education and my clinical internship was at a residential eating disorder treatment center for adolescent females. During internship, I completed training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) from The Medical University of South Carolina, which is an evidence-based, brief duration treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
As a supervisee of a licensee of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I will abide by its Code of Ethics. I am under the ongoing supervision of Ryan Loiselle, LPC, who reviews my cases with me. You may contact my supervisor at 503-374-2901.
