Graduate Mental Health Intern

They/them pronouns

I approach counseling as a facilitator and as a collaborator, working with the client to determine their needs, goals, aspirations, and methods to move forward. As a queer, non-binary therapist, I utilize an intersectional lens in the therapy process to allow clients the space to be their most authentic selves. I use techniques from emotion-focused therapy, relational cultural therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and strengths-based approaches in my work with clients. I firmly believe that we are impacted by the way we tell our stories and how we experience our relationships and emotions. Gaining insight and self-awareness allows us to make changes in the way we think, feel, and act in response to life stressors, which can help develop a sense of balance in our lives. Trust and safety are the most important factors in the therapeutic process, and I hope that I can assist the client in identifying their emotions and illuminating their own values and beliefs in a brave environment.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in English, with a concentration of Film Studies, from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln and I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling at Lewis & Clark College. I’m training to work with individuals across the lifespan (children, adolescents and adults) as well as provide individual, group, and relationship-oriented therapy. In addition, I have received special trainings as a LGTBQAI+ educator and as a sex and sexuality educator. Prior to working at Brave Space, I was a therapist at the Lewis & Clark Community Counseling Center. My areas of study and interest include assisting those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, intimacy and relationships, and challenges regarding identity formation. Additionally, I also work with kink/BDSM and non-monogamous/polyamorous relationships, sex positivity, and body positivity. I am incredibly interested in working with vulnerable populations in the navigation of their environment and the development of their resiliency.
